Sons of Sonix (aka SOS) are a UK production duo behind some of the world’s biggest tracks from the likes of Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Wretch 32, and Stormzy.
Their new single ‘Trust Yourself’ is the first offering from the pair’s upcoming solo project entitled ‘Timezones and Tylenol’. The AfroHouse-influenced single showcases their skill in producing catchy Afro-R&B which feels equally at home in the club and on radio. The track also serves as an introduction to the full project, which pulls on their experiences living between LA, London, and Lagos in recent years. It features the vocal talents of LA singer/songwriter Shawn Butler, who soulfully carries the song’s message of self-discovery and confidence, in the face of challenging moments.
“Written during the global pandemic of 2020, the record is an acknowledgment that people have become co-dependent on others, even to the point of sacrificing their best self and self-beliefs.” Mikey (SOS) says.
Sons Of Sonix members, Mikey and Moses both hail from very musical Nigerian families, where the counter mix of creativity and discipline collide, have helped shape the pair’s outlook and drive. They both aligned even more deeply with their Nigerian roots after returning for the first time as adults in 2019, and they have since dedicated an increasing amount of time on the ground in Lagos, nurturing a new generation of talent, running studio camps and workshops, which have seen the likes of pre-superstar Tems attend.
‘Trust Yourself’ will also be accompanied by a visualizer (2nd Feb) and visuals from their upcoming mini-documentary.
