Accra-based rock outfit AKRA returns with their highly anticipated new single “Shege,” the follow-up to their debut track “Accra we dey” — a vibrant celebration of the hustle, resilience, and unbreakable spirit of the city they call home. Both songs embody the band’s distinctive sound, deeply rooted in African rhythms while infused with their many rock influences.

Born out of one of the most challenging and painful experiences in the band’s existence, “Shege” delves into the emotional and physical toll of heartbreak. “At its heart, the song is about disappointment and broken trust, and it carries with it a personal resonance for some of us,” the band shares. Capturing an intensity that’s both raw and relatable, guitarist Simon Bowman “Bébé” adds, “Shege is indescribable really, you just go feel am.”

AKRA’s music is a reflection of their home city, weaving the tales of everyday life and the realities they encounter. The band’s lineup features Joshua Edem Artcher [J_Artcher] on drums, Barinem Samuel [BsKute] on guitars and vocals, Simon Bowman ‘Jnr’ [Bébé] on guitars, and Jonathan Benjamin Opare [Nathan] on bass.
