The figurehead of Alté, Boj releases his highly anticipated album, ‘12 Summers’ via Action Boyz/MOVES Recordings.
Paying homage to the 12 years he has dedicated to music-making, ‘12 Summers’ is a testament to his unmatched dedication and longevity in the industry. Spanning across 13-tracks, the project enlists contributions from lead musical peers Sainté, ODUMODUBLVCK, Blaqbones, Ajebutter22, Cruel Santino, Gyakie, Blanco, Victony, Valentino Rose, Oxlade and Adekunle Gold. Having incorporated influences of Amapiano, Dance and beyond, ‘12 Summers’ is the epitome of his thriving position in music, encapsulating fun themes and sonics in a masterclass of Alté.
In signature Boj style, he sets precedence from the beginning. Opening the project with ‘Koshi’, he weaves alongside Leicester rapper Sainté before bringing it back to his hometown, London, for ‘Veteran’ alongside Kennington-native Blanco. Leading up to the release, Boj emphasised his intentions to explore new sounds, releasing Amapiano and Dance influenced ‘Jabo’ alongside ODUMODUBLVCK, which followed ‘Love Garden’ featuring Adekunle Gold.
The extended collaborator list stems from Boj’s passion for creating with other artists, which has been a long-time priority for the London-born musician. Keeping listeners on their toes, he enlists Nigerian singer-rapper Blaqbonez for ‘Monica’ before an infectious offering ‘Gbemidebe’ alongside long-time collaborator Ajebutter22. Earlier this month, he teased ‘Borderline’ featuring Cruel Santino, which quickly became a fan favourite, with many people citing it as a long overdue link-up. With serenading instrumentation at the core of each of the album’s thirteen tracks, Boj strengthens his reputation for making music suitable for dancefloors worldwide with ‘Pressure’, an uptempo dance track at the heart of the project.
The growth of London-born, Nigerian-based Boj has come with incredible accolades, most notably Headie-award-winning ‘Gbagada Express’, appearance on Dave’s platinum-certified ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’ and headlining his show at Village Underground in London.
The album feels like a celebration as Boj embarks on his twelfth year as a culture-shaking musician. For more information on Boj, please visit: Instagram TikTok
