Angélique Kidjo & Davido by Emmanuel ‘APMWORLD’ Agbeble

legendary Angélique Kidjo, known for her activism, infectious energy, and multiple Grammy wins, shares her newest single “JOY” featuring Afrobeats superstar Davido. Fresh off his sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden, Davido brings his unique flair to this uplifting collaboration. For Kidjo, this release signals an exciting new chapter in her career, building on her earlier 2024 single, “Sunlight To My Soul” with Diane Warren and the Soweto Gospel Choir. As always, Kidjo’s latest work continues to reflect the magic and depth she’s shared with audiences for over four decades.

Reflecting on this collaboration, Kidjo shared, “JOY is a song that came from a place of celebration. In the face of all the hardships we’ve experienced globally, I wanted to create something that reminds people of the light that still exists in our lives. Working with Davido was a true joy—he brings so much energy and heart to everything he touches.”

This isn’t the first time Kidjo and Davido have worked together. The two joined forces on “NA MONEY” from Davido’s 2023 album, Timeless, and earlier this year, they electrified fans with a live performance at Davido’s sold-out show at the O2 Arena. Their connection deepened over the summer in New York City, where they created “JOY”—a song that radiates optimism and resilience. Sung in both Yoruba and English, the track beautifully weaves together their shared belief that joy can be found even in life’s most challenging moments.

“Working with Angélique again was incredible,” says Davido. “She’s a true icon, and JOY is something special. It’s not just about being happy—it’s about finding happiness despite everything else. That’s a message we all need right now.”

There’s a clear bond between the two artists, and their shared mission of spreading positivity is evident in every note of “JOY.” As anticipation builds for what’s next from Kidjo, one thing is clear—she remains a trailblazer, unafraid to push boundaries and explore new musical landscapes while staying grounded in her roots.
