Apple Music has partnered with Sony to offer PlayStation Plus subscribers up to three months of free access to its streaming service, as part of a late-year push to attract new users.
The promotion is available to PlayStation Plus members who do not currently have an active Apple Music subscription. Eligibility is also influenced by a user’s subscription history, with some returning subscribers reporting that they were offered a discounted trial rather than full free access.
To redeem the offer, users must download the Apple Music app from the Media section of the PlayStation 5 interface, sign in with an Apple account, and follow the on-screen instructions. Users without an Apple account can create one during the setup process.
Feedback shared on online forums suggests the offer does not apply to those with an active Apple Music subscription or users already on a free trial. Several PlayStation Plus members have also reported receiving reduced-price offers instead of the full three months at no cost.
Apple Music’s standard individual subscription is priced at $10.99 per month, meaning a full three-month trial represents a value of more than $30. By limiting the promotion to PlayStation Plus subscribers, Apple appears to be targeting gamers who are already comfortable with recurring subscription services.
The move also leverages PlayStation’s strong market position. The PlayStation 5 is currently the most widely owned gaming console, accounting for approximately 45% of console ownership, compared with around 23% for Microsoft’s Xbox.
The partnership comes amid Apple Music’s broader expansion strategy. Earlier this month, General Motors announced plans to integrate Apple Music directly into the infotainment systems of select vehicles, including the 2025 and 2026 Cadillac CT5, as well as the 2026 Corvette, Suburban, and Tahoe. The integration is expected to extend to the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt and selected Buick and GMC models.
Together, these initiatives signal Apple Music’s continued efforts to grow its subscriber base by embedding the service more deeply into everyday entertainment ecosystems, from gaming consoles to in-car audio systems.
