Ibee Melody Stays Connecting Through the Rhythms with Calmness

There is something refreshing about music, talents, and how people receive the sound they hear. The Ghanaian music scene keeps expanding in unpredictable directions, and Ibee Melody is proof of that shift. Based in Kumasi, he’s not your typical music sensation from the North, but his music is finding strong footing there. His recent single “Kakalika” featuring Fancy Gadam goes beyond a local anthem and travels.

Since late 2024, Ibee Melody, born Ibrahim Yakubu, has been pushing steadily. In that time, he first came through with “Metaphor” featuring Kojo Blak , a melodic banger that drove up his streams. Then pushed up with “Dealer,” a grittier street-pop record that relatively receives attention and love. But it is “Kakalika” with its bounce, coded messaging, and Fancy Gadam cosign that’s pulling him into wider conversations.

What stands out about Ibee’s growth is how people are receiving his music—the feel and sense of his sound. There is no forced trend-chasing, just catchy records with replay value. His catalogue is young, but his impact is real.

Ghana Plug caught up with Ibee Melody to talk about his music, growth, and what lies ahead.

You have had a busy run since December 2024. What is driving your momentum right now?
IBEE: Honestly, it is the hunger. I have seen what is possible, and I am locked in. The fans keep showing love, so I have no choice but to keep going.

METAPHOR with Kojo Blak marked a shift in your numbers. What made that record click?
IBEE: It was real and relatable. Kojo brought his energy, and we did not overthink it. It just felt right, and the people felt that, too.

How has your sound or approach changed since your first few releases?
IBEE: I am still growing, but now I understand how to blend melody with message and am more intentional with every line and beat I choose.

You are Kumasi-based, but Kakalika has picked up big in the North. Did that surprise you?
IBEE: A bit, yeah. But it shows how music travels. The North embraced it heavily, and I am grateful for the love. It is just pure love from the region. And also, shout out to Fancy for pushing it out there.

What inspired Kakalika, and what does the title mean to you personally?
IBEE: Kakalika is about the things people do in the dark. Not the scary things, but if you know, you know.

How did the collaboration with Fancy Gadam come about?
IBEE: Respect. We connected through my management, and once he heard the track, he jumped on it without hesitation. That is real artistry.

How would you describe the shift in your career between Metaphor, Dealer, and now Kakalika?
IBEE: Each one was a step forward. Metaphor opened ears, Dealer built the sound, and Kakalika is where it all connects. It is elevation.

You have released three major songs in six months. Are you building up to a bigger project?
IBEE: Absolutely. These singles are the foundation. A bigger body of work is coming, and I want it to feel like a whole journey.

What is something you have learned from the fast pace of the last few months?
IBEE: Stay grounded. Things move fast, but you will lose the plot if you don’t stay true to yourself.

What is one thing listeners still do not know about Ibee Melody?
IBEE: I write a lot in silence. No beat, no mic, just thoughts. The melody comes later.

Ibee Melody proves he’s more than a rising act—he’s a new voice of Ghanaian street-pop with cross-regional pull.
