Ugandan Afro-R&B sensation Joshua Baraka has unveiled the official music video for Someday, his standout collaboration with Ghanaian star KiDi. The track, featured on Baraka’s acclaimed mixtape RECESS, has already captured the hearts of fans with its soulful reflection on moving forward and embracing life’s missed opportunities.
Produced by the renowned P Priime, Someday blends atmospheric beats with Baraka’s signature Afro-soul sound, creating a captivating musical experience. The addition of KiDi, affectionately known as Ghana’s “Golden Boy,” brings a rich vocal texture that perfectly complements the song’s introspective theme.
Baraka’s release of the Someday video follows a remarkable year for the rising star. Named one of Spotify’s RADAR artists, Baraka recently performed at Spotify’s #SpotifyWrapped event in Lagos, Nigeria, standing out as the only East African artist and sharing the stage with celebrated names like DJ Tunez, London, and Ayo Maff.
RECESS, a seven-track mixtape, showcases Baraka’s dynamic artistry, seamlessly spanning genres like R&B, Afropop, and more. Alongside KiDi, the mixtape features collaborations with Kenyan singer Bensoul and production by P Priime, whose credits include Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Fireboy DML. Drawing inspiration from iconic 90s R&B beats and Baraka’s Afro-soul roots, RECESS is a testament to his innovative sound and evolving artistry.
Baraka’s meteoric rise continues at just 22 years old. With over 460K monthly Spotify listeners, 20 million streams, and collaborations with African heavyweights like Simi, Joeboy, and Magixx, he has cemented his place as one of Uganda’s biggest musical exports. His sold-out debut UK headline show in London this October left fans eager for more, marking another milestone in his flourishing career.
