Nigerian comic choir Kabusa Oriental Choir has released a cover of “Soweto,” originally by Victony and Tempoe. This new version of “Soweto” was born out of the audience’s demand, following the choir’s successful rendition of “Soso.” Kabusa Oriental Choir describes the process of creating this song, from conception to mastering to the music video, as immersive and intense. They are confident that anyone who loved their latest track, “Soso,” will automatically fall in love with “Soweto.”

Hailing from the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Kabusa Oriental Choir was created by Austin Chinemezu Nwamara, the Choir Director, on March 11, 2019. Their first content, a choir cover mashup of Kizz Daniel’s “Yeba” and DJ Spinal’s “Baba,” went viral and propelled the choir into the limelight. Over the years, Kabusa Oriental Choir has evolved from solely creating choir covers to producing original songs. One notable original song is “The Corona Song,” written by Austin Chinemezu Nwamara to spread information about the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

In February 2020, Kabusa Oriental Choir released “Valentine is Coming,” a song for Valentine’s Day that garnered global recognition and remains one of their biggest hits. The song was featured on BBC 1XTRA RADIO in the United Kingdom during Valentine’s week in 2019. The choir has made it a tradition to release new verses to the song every year.
