UK-born and multi-talented Ghanaian artist, Kay-T, has announced the release of his first single of the year, titled “PA.” This new track follows Kay-T’s similar sonic approach from his last song, “Yenda,” featuring Medikal and QV in 2022. Produced by his longtime collaborator and beatsmith, Uche B, “PA” encapsulates the intimacy and nostalgia of early 2000s Ghanaian hiplife and hip-hop music, featuring fun rap verses, youthful Ghanaian jargons, and a catchy hook. The song’s thick bass line and synth set a mood for grooviness, allowing Kay-T to effortlessly glide with his verse. Notably, prolific rapper Jay Bahd makes a perfect counterpart, seamlessly fitting into Kay-T’s world and delivering verses tailored to complement Kay-T’s vision for the song.
Kay-T’s 2017 hit “Teeshi” propelled him into the limelight, establishing him as a frontrunner for New Age hip-hop in Ghana. He has since reinforced this position with several releases, with his 2021 song “AOT” becoming a fan favorite, particularly within the Anime community on TikTok. Beyond his musical prowess, Kay-T’s creative skills extend behind the lens, as he is also an award-winning director and the CEO of Hawk-Eye Cinema under the alias KTO, having directed some of the finest videos for his peers.
“PA” marks another milestone in Kay-T’s musical journey, showcasing his ability to seamlessly blend nostalgic elements with contemporary sounds, creating a captivating and immersive listening experience for his audience. As he continues to push boundaries and redefine the Ghanaian music landscape, Kay-T invites fans to join him on this exciting musical adventure.
