Ghanaian Hip Hop artist M.anifest has released a nostalgic freestyle titled “50 YEARS” as a tribute to Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary.
In this homage, M.anifest references iconic figures in the genre’s history, including 2pac, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G, The Fugees, LL Cool J, and the Wu-Tang Clan. With his lyrical prowess, M.anifest celebrates the enduring legacy of Hip Hop and its influence worldwide, even contributing significantly to the genre himself.

M.anifest’s freestyle covers the origins of Hip Hop on Sedgwick Avenue and its impact on various parts of the world, including Ghana’s Hip Life genre. He pays tribute to classic albums like Obrafour’s “Pae Mu Ka” and Kanye West’s “College Dropout,” highlighting the cultural significance of Hip Hop.
The freestyle also acknowledges contemporary artists like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, A-Reece, Black Sherif, and Sampa The Great, affirming that Hip Hop remains vibrant and relevant in contemporary music. Beyond music, M.anifest has engaged in academic discussions about Hip Hop’s evolution, sharing insights from an African perspective. He has also participated in events celebrating Hip Hop legends like Nas.
