Multi-talented artist Mo Eazy is making his highly anticipated return to solo music with the release of his new single, “African Gangstar,” out now. After spending the past few years co-writing for top African artists and building a successful film career with soundtracks for the critically acclaimed A Tribe Called Judah, Mo Eazy is back to showcase his own distinctive sound.
Known for his fusion of African rhythms and Western influences, “African Gangstar” kicks off a series of storytelling Afrobeat singles that dive deep into Mo Eazy’s personal journey. The gritty and introspective track reflects on his past, where ego and dance took center stage. Produced by renowned Afrobeat duo Twinbeatz, who have worked with industry heavyweights like Wizkid, Phyno, and Timaya, “African Gangstar” combines organic instrumentation with a cinematic atmosphere, creating a brooding underground anthem that transports listeners to the vibrant streets of Lagos, Nigeria.
Speaking about the track, Mo Eazy shares, “This song is a reflection of where I came from, a snapshot of my younger days in Lagos. It’s about resilience, survival, and self-discovery.”
“African Gangstar” is the first of many singles to come, each offering insights into Mo Eazy’s evolution—exploring themes of self-love, determination, faith, and community. Born in Kano, Nigeria, and raised in South London, Mo Eazy’s music blends his native language and African rhythms with global influences, a fusion that has earned him acclaim across continents. His versatile artistry has garnered prestigious awards and nominations, including the Nigerian Entertainment Award (NEA), BEFFTA, and Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA).
While stepping away from the spotlight as a solo artist, Mo Eazy has been far from idle. He co-wrote and produced hits for African stars such as Yemi Alade, Runtown, and Darey Art Alade, contributing to tracks like “Things I Know” (Signs 2023) by Runtown, “Special Fever” by Darey Art Alade, and “JOJO” by Yemi Alade featuring Bisa-Kdei. Mo Eazy’s impact on Yemi Alade’s recent album Rebel Queen includes co-writing the track “Ki lo Wa Wa” and producing the album’s opener, “Karibu.”
Beyond music, Mo Eazy has made significant strides in the film and television world, with contributions to soundtracks for Nigerian cinema and roles in popular African TV series such as Jenifa’s Diary and Industreet.
