Nairobi’s Rising Hip-Hop Sensation YNG GHOST Launches Independent Solo Career with Debut Single “Cold”

Nairobi’s rising hip-hop artist YNG GHOST has officially launched his solo career by releasing his powerful debut single, “Cold,” featuring Ajay from the acclaimed drill group Buruklyn Boyz. After years of honing his craft behind the scenes, YNG GHOST is now stepping into the spotlight to deliver a message for dreamers, survivors, and those navigating life’s toughest challenges.

YNG GHOST began his musical journey at the tender age of 12. In 2018, he went professional after signing with Elvic Records, where he gained valuable industry experience and international exposure, performing on stages across Europe. In 2019, he made the bold decision to pause his career to pursue higher education, completing both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

In 2024, his passion was reignited. He connected with visionary producer Woudomolo, and together they began crafting a distinct, genre-blending sound. Now fully independent, YNG GHOST is charting his course with raw honesty and versatility. His music, a fusion of Swahili and English, weaves together personal stories and social commentary that resonates with Kenya’s youth and a broader global audience.

His debut single “Cold” captures the emotional weight of life’s daily struggles, such as betrayal, financial hardship, or the illusion of fame. The song serves as both a warning and a reminder: the streets are cold, and outside help is rare. Ultimately, it’s your inner strength and your parents’ guidance that can carry you through.

The track features Ajay, also known as Nimba 1, the frontman of Buruklyn Boyz, Kenya’s pioneering drill group from Buruburu Estate. Alongside members Mr. Right and Ali Buddz, the group has defined a raw, unapologetic voice for Nairobi’s youth. Ajay’s sharp lyricism and streetwise perspective add depth and authenticity to the track.

“I’m not here to be boxed into a genre,” YNG GHOST says. “I’m here to deliver. Whether it’s hip-hop, Afrobeat, or something new, I bring my truth, and that’s what matters.”

“Cold” was written by YNG GHOST (Brian Kasiva) and Ajay. Vince, a talented music producer based in Trinidad, produced it. Fezzoh of the Kenyan group Matata initially mixed it. It was later remixed and mastered by Woudomolo, ensuring the final sound matched the power of the song’s message.

With more releases in the works, YNG GHOST is proving this is just the beginning of a larger movement. He stands as a voice for the resilient, a sound for those who refuse to give up, and a creative force that will not be silenced or categorized.
