Ghanaian Reggae-Dancehall artist Pinky Pecks has consistently made waves with bold remarks, and this has not changed as she gears up to release a new single. This time, however, the ‘Hustle’ star is ready to walk her talk. She is confident that her upcoming song, ‘Labadi Turn Up,’ will outperform Kaakie’s decade-long hit, ‘DC Turn Up,’ in terms of cultural relevance among Gen Y, Z, and Alpha.

Although relatively new to making music, Pinky Pecks is unafraid of taking down Goliaths, and Kaakie’s seismic 2012 hit is next on her agenda. The fierce singer is determined to contest the legendary status of ‘DC Turn Up.’ She also aims to use this opportunity to raise the profile of her hometown, Labadi, placing it above Kaakie’s Dansoman/DC with her highly anticipated release.

“As a fan of Kaakie’s music, the original inspired me to create something even bigger and more special,” Pinky Pecks stated in a press release. “This song has been on my mind for a while, and I am finally ready to share it. Everyone knows Labadi is undisputed; it’s the heart of Accra. I’m prepared to hoist its flag above any other town’s. Yeah, it’s time for Labadi to turn up!”

According to Pinky Pecks’ manager and music production manager Alvin Coleman and Linguakat respectively, ‘Labadi Turn Up’ promises to pack an element of surprise alongside challenging cultural trends and bringing honor to the artist’s city. The single features one of Ghanaian music’s long-standing names and aims to create “an epic collaboration that bridges the gap between the young and old, the rising and established, the unstoppable and the immovable.”
