For years, award-winning Ghanaian artiste Shatta Wale has built a brand that stretches far beyond music — shaping culture, influencing youth identity, and driving conversations around independence, ownership, and self-determination.
This week, the dancehall heavyweight signalled another major step in that direction, firmly positioning himself within the business and technology space.
Shatta Wale has officially announced the establishment of HOTWAV in Ghana, with plans to distribute the smartphone brand across the country and the wider West African region. The move marks a strategic expansion of his portfolio, blending entertainment influence with long-term commercial ambition.
As a part-owner and brand partner, Shatta Wale has emphasized that the partnership goes beyond a traditional celebrity endorsement. Instead, it represents a calculated investment aimed at building a structured, locally driven technology business focused on delivering powerful yet accessible devices designed for everyday life, work, and mobility across the region.
The brand is set to debut with a special SM Series, created specifically with Shatta Wale’s community in mind. According to the team, the devices will be performance-driven, premium-built, and versatile enough to move seamlessly between street culture and professional environments.
“This is more than endorsement. This is ownership, structure, and long-term vision,” Shatta Wale stated.
Pre-orders for the SM Series are expected to open soon, with further details anticipated in the coming weeks as the rollout gains momentum.
