King Promise in a recent interview with Hitz FM asserted that his relationship with Nigeria Super Star Wizkid has no effect on his career decisions.

Due to his breach of contract and absence from the recent “Wizkid Live” concert at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghanaian artist King Promise received several backlashes from netizens.

Prior to Wizkid, the night’s headliner, the award-winning singer was among the lineup of artists slated to excite spectators. However, even though some of the artists on the bill, including Darkovibes and Gyakie, appeared, King Promise and R2Bees followed Wizkid’s example and did not show up for their concerts that evening.

While Wizkid’s absence from the performance is still not fully explained, King Promise got caught in a flame war although he rendered apologies. As the performance was hosted in his home and he owed it to his people, King Promise’s fans and supporters thought that he should have performed instead.

His subsequent acts, like hanging out with Wizkid on his private plane and accompanying the Nigerian superstar to Abidjan and later Benin, further stoked outrage on social media.

Since King Promise is following Wizkid’s orders, many people have referred to him as his ‘Nungua De paul’ meaning Wizkid’s ‘Puppet’

But according to King Promise, Wizkid is not his “boss” and he is not at his beck and call in an interview with Hitz FM. King Promise refers to the Grammy-winning musician as a buddy, not the other way around, in their connection.

He said, “Wizkid is my friend, not my boss.” He further stated that Ghanaians are his true allies. “I have an allegiance to Ghanaians.”
