Woman jailed 6 years for stealing a baby in Kumasi

The woman in the above picture Theresa Asamoah has been sentenced to 6 years in prison with hard labour for stealing a baby in Kumasi.

According to reports, she connived with her 21-year-old daughter to steal a baby at the Kumasi South Hospital. When sent to court, Priscilla Appiah, her daughter pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of GH ¢100,000 with three sureties to be justified.

The police service in Kumasi relaunched investigations and realized that 45-year-old Madam Theresa Asamoah and her daughter tricked a nursing mother, who had just delivered at the Kumasi South Hospital, and took the baby away without her knowledge.

The nursing mother disclosed to the Police that, she was staying with Theresa Asamoah and her daughter, who at the time had faked a pregnancy to her husband. During the court session, the prosecutor said Priscilla took the ‘stolen’ baby home and informed her husband that she had given birth while Sylvia was told at the hospital that her baby died shortly after she gave birth and was sacked from the house.

After being sacked from the house, Sylvia went back to her hometown, upon her arrival in two years’ time, she realized that her baby was still alive. She then reported the case to the police.
